how to choose a prayer room:
The focus for every 24–7/SAPrayer week is the prayer room. It is essential that a room be set aside for prayer throughout the week in order to keep the momentum moving forward. The prayer room needs to be large enough to have about ten people in there at any given time. People will need room to move around.
essentials for the prayer room:
- Ventilation. It is essential to make sure that the room is well ventilated. Air-conditioning for hotter climates and heaters for the winter months should be available.Accessible. Make sure that the prayer room is accessible for everyone.
- Security. Security is essential for safety—especially at night. It is advisable to have a room or building that locks on the inside. It is also advisable to let the Police know about the building being in use 24 hours a day for a week. It would be helpful to ask the Police if they have anything that they would like you to pray for.
- Refreshments. It is advisable to have hot and cold drinks available.
- Mess. Make sure that the room can cope with mess, as people will be popping in and out all day. We don’t want ‘mess’ to detract from people praying; therefore it would help if people took responsibility for keeping the prayer room clean and ‘fresh’.
Taking all the above into account, every prayer room will look different and be of a different size. Whatever room you decide to use will be a special place for your corps, and we pray that God will do amazing things in the prayer room.
