40 Days of Prayer – 2013
In 2012, we were blessed to journey together in 40 Days of Prayer leading up to the Territorial Officers’ Councils in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Our united prayers fostered community as we gathered in Hershey, and also laid an expectation of the moving of the Holy Spirit in our midst.
The goal of the 40 days of prayer is be united in Scripture and prayer, earnestly seeking God’s corporate voice to His people, and being attentive to what He is saying to us as individuals. God is always speaking, He is always at work. As we seek the Lord together in prayer may we pay attention to God’s stirring and may we encourage one another in the faith as Hebrews 10:24 urges us, “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.”
The Scriptures which will focus our daily prayer have been taken from the Psalms that correspond with “The One Year Bible Reading Plan for Salvationists.” These particular Psalms encompass a great range of human emotions, from longing, repenting, lamenting, cursing, asking, thanking, to praise and celebration. They are the heartfelt, real cries of people expressing life with authentic need and desire.
These days of prayer will lead to Resurrection Day, as we celebrate Easter, and worship our Risen Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
“For this reason. . . I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints and his incomparably great power for us who believe.”
Ephesians 1:17-19
